Robins travel to Dorking, eager to bounce back

by Joe Brayne

The Robins travel to Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday eager to bounce back against an in-form Dorking Wanderers (3pm kick-off).

Alty were unfortunate to lose Easter Monday’s feisty, open-ended match against Gateshead that saw referee Ben Atkinson distribute 10 yellow cards.

Ollie Byrne produced a number of spectacular stops to thwart the visitors' early pressure before Regan Linney and Tyrese Sinclair dominated both wings.

Alty created several good chances, including Joe Hugill’s close-range strike hitting the crossbar, yet were unable to find the finishing touch.

Eager to make amends for the missed opportunities, Alty travel down south looking to complete a league double over Dorking – having beaten the Wanderers 4-1 at The J. Davidson Stadium last October.

Phil Parkinson will be without three of the four goal-scorers from the first meeting this season, but the recent departure of Sinclair has opened up the possibility for Aaron Bennett to return to the starting XI.

About the Opposition

Sitting in 19th place and six points above the drop, Dorking have every right to be pleased with their inaugural season in the fifth tier.

The Wanderers have been in fine form lately, winning four of their last five matches and conceding just two goals.

Dorking’s danger man, Jason Prior, has proved instrumental in the side’s turnaround. The striker has been in searing-hot form, netting an impressive five goals in his last five matches.

Prior’s attacking prowess has been a necessity for the Wanderers, who are the league’s second-leakiest defence, having conceded 86 goals over the course of the season.

Facing a much-changed Alty side since October’s 4-1 thumping, Dorking will be keen to earn three vital points towards survival in front of their home fans at Meadowfield.
