Altrincham begin their campaign in the inaugural National League Cup on
Tuesday as we face Blackburn Rovers PL2 at The J.Davidson Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm)
Welcome to The National League Cup
The National League Cup kicked off last week, with the first game in Group B
(Altrincham’s group) hosted by Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.
Goals from Alex Reid and Harry Charsley helped the National League club pick up a 2-1 victory over Stoke City under-21s.
As the Latics are the only team to have put any points on the board, they are
currently in the top spot. However, Altrincham have the opportunity to bypass them if they manage a win with a two-goal margin.
A draw after 90 minutes would lead to a penalty shootout between the two teams;
the winner of the shootout will receive two points, and the losers will receive one
point.
Ending Tuesday’s game at the top of the table is not imperative, however, as we are also set to welcome to The J.Davidson Stadium youngsters from Manchester United (November 19th), Stoke City (December 3rd) & Wolves (January 28th) in the group stage across the next four months.
