Altrincham are back on the road after back-back fixtures at The J. Davidson
Stadium as we face Barnet at The Hive in the Vanarama National League on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
Setting the Scene
Altrincham emphatically returned to winning ways against Ebbsfleet in their previous game, winning 4-0 with a dominant team performance.
Two sublime long-range efforts, less than two minutes apart, from Regan Linney and Alex Newby gave Alty a commanding early lead in the first half before Eddy Jones and Kahrel Reddin scored two wonderful goals of their own to seal the three points.
Alty’s forward line returned to their best and caused Ebbsfleet’s defence issues from minute one. The win sees the Robins rise into 11th place with 10 points after seven games.
Tuesday’s hosts, Barnet, are two points and five positions ahead of Altrincham after a solid start to their season.
Their most recent result was a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Gateshead, but
impressive wins over Tamworth, Southend, Forest Green and Ebbsfleet highlight
their quality.
The Gaffer
“Going into Barnet which, everyone knows, are the champions elect. They and
Forest Green, everyone seems to be touting around – I can see why with Barnet.
Dean’s built a brilliant team there, he’s a superb manager, they’re really attack-
minded and it should make for a great game. It’ll be an entertaining one no matter
what happens because they certainly won’t hold back and we won’t either.”
Last time against Barnet
January 2024 – The Robins were on the winning side of the last meeting between
Altrincham and Barnet.
A goal in the first minute from Alex Newby gave Alty the lead before Lewis Baines and Chris Conn-Clarke tripled the Robins’ advantage. Barnet fought back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as Altrincham won 3-2.
