Alty's impressive mini run of results in the Enterprise National League came to an end at Brunton Park as three goals in eight first half minutes were enough for promotion-chasing Carlisle to claim the three points.

Despite looking confident and dominating possession for the opening quarter of the game, Alty found themselves behind on 26 minutes when David Ajiboye took aim from just inside the box and beat Luke Hutchinson low into the bottom corner.

The lead was doubled just four minutes later as Luke Armstrong finished from close range off an Ajiboye centre, before an own goal from Dan Sassi increased the home lead before half time.

Hutchinson then had to be at his best to deny first Regan Linney, and then Ajiboye from close in, to keep the score at 3-0 as the game past the hour mark.

Then, a potential way back into the game arrived for Alty. Tylor Golden's right wing cross was headed home by Jimmy Knowles for his 12th of the season with 20 minutes to go.

Unfortunately, Carlisle managed the game well in the final moments, only allowing a couple of corners, one Lucas Weaver cross which almost caught Gabriel Breeze out and a final header from Weaver which landed on the top of the home net.
