In this regular Monday feature, John Edwards brings you news of how those Altrincham players out on loan have fared over the weekend. He’s his latest update.

Liam Brockbank - Gloucester City

Alty left-back Liam is fit again, after picking up an injury on his home debut for Gloucester, and was named on the bench by manager Steve King for his side’s testing trip to Aggborough in the Vanarama National League North.

King was delighted with his side’s 1-0 win - a result that lifted them into 10th place, two points ahead of the team they beat, Kidderminster Harriers - and, as a bonus, Liam went on as an 85th-minute substitute to help the Tigers safeguard their lead. Good to see you back in action, Liam!

Aidan Roxburgh - Ashton United

Right-back Aidan was ruled out through illness as Ashton slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Lancaster City in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

Eden Bailey - Hanley Town

Alty’s recent signing started the game and lasted the full 90 minutes, but it just wasn’t Hanley’s day at Witton Albion in the Northern Premier League West Division.

The visitors were only 1-0 behind at the midway point, but three goals in a devastating five-minute spell at the start of the second half left them heading for a deflating 5-1 defeat.

Eden provided one of few bright moments for 14th-placed Hanley late on when he expertly rounded the keeper, only for the angle to prove too tight for the Alty forward to mark his full debut with a goal.

Josh Jordan - Widnes

Widnes manager Michael Ellison was critical of his team after their 2-1 home defeat to Kidsgrove Athletic, but he had nothing but glowing praise for a typically committed and commanding performance from young Josh on his debut at the heart of defence.

Trailing 2-0, Widnes reduced the arrears through another debutant, Jay Roberts, in the 67th minute but couldn’t find an equaliser, as a fourth straight defeat left them propping up the rest in the NPL West Division, three points behind Ramsbottom United and City of Liverpool.

As he reflected on his new loan signing’s contribution, just hours after completing the move, Ellison said: ‘I thought Josh was outstanding. For a 19-year old lad to come straight into the side like that, in a big game against a very good, very physical side, spoke volumes for him. I thought he did really well, and I was really pleased with him.’

Ryan Morton - Trafford

What an impact Ryan had at Shawe View on Saturday, as he grabbed both goals - the second hailed as ‘brilliant’ on Trafford’s twitter feed - in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle Town in the NPL West Division.

Our highly-rated young sharpshooter crowned a bright start by the home team with an assured finish, as he latched on to a pass and hit a crisp, low finish into the bottom corner to open the scoring in the 16th minute.

Newcastle equalised soon after and were ahead seven minutes into the second half, but a point was salvaged for Trafford in the 67th minute when Ryan powered his way towards the edge of the area and hammered a spectacular shot beyond the keeper.

Trafford are now 10th in the table, level on points with Newcastle but in front of them on goal difference, thanks to some masterly marksmanship by the Alty prospect - well done, Ryan, keep it up!

Harlan Rodgers-Morris, Ewan McGeady, Amaar Hussain - Alsager Town

A galling setback for Amaar is the first bit of news to bring you here. Alty’s talented attacking midfielder recently picked up a knee problem that has been diagnosed as an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Everyone at the club wishes you well, Amaar, and hopes to see you restored to full fitness as soon as possible.

Ewan played for Alty’s Academy on Friday and therefore missed the following day’s action as Alsager went down 3-1 at Brocton in the North West Counties League Division One South.

Harlan did play, however, starting in midfield and applying himself as wholeheartedly as ever to keep his side in contention for lengthy spells.

Indeed, Alsager went in front in first-half stoppage time and looked on course for a point, at least, right up to a dramatic finale that went the home team’s way.

An 83rd-minute goal edged fifth-placed Brocton ahead, but Alsager went straight up the other end and earned themselves the perfect chance to equalise when Sam Madeley was upended in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

But Madeley blotted his copybook by blazing the penalty over the bar to reprieve a Brocton side who made sure of the points with a third goal in the final minute.
