It's good to be home

After four consecutive games away from home, Alty finally return to The J. Davidson Stadium as we host Aldershot Town in the Vanarama National League on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

A return to home comforts

Unfortunately, Altrincham ended the spell of four away games in succession with a 3-0 defeat against Rochdale at Crown Oil Arena on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s defeat saw us drop into eighth, one place outside the playoffs. Saturday’s opponents, Aldershot, are currently 18th, five points outside the relegation zone.

In the 2023/24 Vanarama National League, Aldershot narrowly missed out on the play-offs, but they’ve been unable to replicate that impressive campaign this time out.

Their 51 goals scored rank them eighth top scorers in the division, but the 56 goals they’ve conceded have hampered their progress. They’ve built some momentum recently, however, winning three of their last four league games, drawing the other.

The thoughts of Phil Parkinson

“We’ve been very strong at home and we’ve got to be looking to take as many maximum points as possible, but you’re playing teams who are now reaching a bit of form in your Aldershot.

"There are no easy games, but we back ourselves against anyone at home. We’ve been at our best when we’ve had our strongest players out, which sounds very obvious, but when you play the best teams, you need your best players on the pitch, and we’ve not been able to do that in the last couple of games.

"But, we have got very good players on the pitch, and very good players who need the minutes to come back, and they’re getting them now."

Earlier this season at the EBB Stadium

November 2024 – The previous meeting between the sides ended in a 2-1 victory for Aldershot at the EBB Stadium.

James Henry scored a first-half brace for the Shots and Alty couldn’t recover, despite a late goal for Jake Bickerstaff.
