We're up to day five in the build-up to Stuart Coburn's testimonial, which is now just a week away at The J.Davidson Stadium on Sunday July 28th.
It's an Alty 2005 Xl versus an Alty 2014 Xl, kicking off at 3.30pm, and you can make sure of your place at a not-to-be-missed celebration of Stuart's club record 689 appearances between the posts for the Robins by clicking here to buy tickets.
We are bringing you details of the players taking part on a daily basis as we head towards what will be a special, nostalgia-packed afternoon, kindly sponsored by Jones Contracts, with tickets priced at just £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s. Here is today's quartet from the 2005 squad:
COLIN LITTLE - it's only fitting that a legend like Stuey should have someone of similar stature at his testimonial, and this prolific striker certainly fits the bill.
Wythenshawe-born, there was a sign of things to come from Colin when he amassed a remarkable 56 goals in 95 outings for Hyde United, a tally that earned him an opportunity in the Football League with Crewe Alexandra, where he made 228 appearances and scored 45 times over the course of seven years after being spotted by renowned talent finder Dario Gradi.
He arrived at Alty after a brief spell with Halifax Town in 2004, and it's fair to say he hit the ground running. In his first season, he was our top scorer with no fewer than 38 goals in a campaign that ended with promotion to the Conference National via the play-offs, and he backed that up by topping the scoring charts in each of the following three seasons.
What a player, and if everyone at Alty loved him, the feeling was mutual. After he reached the milestone of 100 goals for the Robins in his 197th appearance, a 1-0 FA Cup fourth qualifying round win at Newcastle Blue Star, manager Graham Heathcote said: "He has had loads of offers to go back into the Football League, but he has stayed loyal to Alty. He has been fantastic."
All good things come to an end, needless to say, and we bade farewell to Colin when he left to take up a coaching role at Manchester United's Academy, having scored an exceptional 114 goals in 245 starting appearances plus 33 as substitute.
COLIN POTTS - after training with Southport in the summer of 2004, Colin looked to be starting a second spell with Northwich Vics but almost immediately saw the error of his ways (!) and headed in our direction to play in a pre-season friendly against Blackburn Rovers on August 6th before throwing in his lot with the Robins.
It was to prove a sound decision for both parties, with Colin quickly establishing himself as a skilful, hard-working, highly-effective outside-right with a penchant for delivering pinpoint crosses that more often than not led to scoring opportunities for those in the middle.
His ability to pick out a team-mate from way out on the right flank was never better illustrated than on August 27th 2005 when he landed two near-identical centres on to the head of first James Olsen and then Colin Little for the goals that gave us a 2-0 win at the Recreation Ground in our first-ever league encounter with Aldershot.
A loan spell at Burscough in September 2006 helped him regain full fitness and sharpness after an injury absence, and after three games there, he played his first full 90 minutes of that Conference campaign against Woking on September 16th.
He left to join Barrow soon after but returned to Moss Lane at the start of the 2007-08 campaign, only to be hampered by a knee injury that restricted him to 13 substitute appearances. He was released in December 2007 after making 82+38 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
DANNY ADAMS - what a signing Danny proved to be after arriving from Congleton Town in July 1997. An ever-dependable, highly-accomplished defender, he quickly became a fixture in the starting line-up at left-back, at one time putting together a run of 97 consecutive appearances that was only broken by a one-match suspension.
A postman in the Altrincham area, he won multiple man-of-the-match awards and was player of the year in all categories after an outstanding campaign in 1999-2000 for him personally.
He turned down what would have been a lucrative move to Telford United that season but was sold to Macclesfield Town for £25,000 at the start of the 2000-01 season. Danny started 161 games overall for Alty and went on to clock up over 200 appearances in the Football League for the likes of Stockport County, Huddersfield Town and Morecambe.
DALE JOHNSON - arrived at Alty with a reputation as a prolific goalscorer from his time at Hyde United, and while we never quite saw that sort of output from him in Robins colours, there could be no doubting his ability, not least the way he held the ball up to bring others into the game.
Signed for Alty in June 2008 and went straight into the starting line-up. Though he was not always a regular starter in the opening weeks and months, he was given the chance to establish himself in November that initial season, and he grabbed it with both hands.
Expectations were high going into the 2009-10 season, but unfortunately he suffered a knee injury in mid-September that was diagnosed a month later as a ruptured cruciate ligament that ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
Six matches into the next season, he was released to rejoin Hyde. He had a second spell at Alty in March 2011 and, in total, made 49+20 appearances, scoring seven goals.
