Altrincham have significantly increased their attacking options after landing winger Elliot Newby on loan from Stockport County for the rest of the calendar year.
The 26-year old attacker will need no introducing to Alty fans after the way he became a firm crowd favourite during his previous spell on loan at The J.Davidson Stadium nearly six years ago.
He arrived from his hometown club Barrow on an initial one-month agreement in December 2016 but ended up staying for three months after hitting the ground running in Robins colours and going on to score five goals in 16 appearances.
A pacey, direct right-sided specialist with an eye for goal, he is still remembered fondly at Moss Lane, and when the chance presented itself to recruit him again, manager Phil Parkinson wasted no time wrapping up a loan deal that will run until January 3rd.
Elliot, who is pictured scoring for Alty after only 10 seconds against Worcester City in February 2017, started out at Bolton Wanderers before heading home to Barrow, from where he had highly-successful loan spells with the Robins and Telford.
He joined Chorley in the summer of 2018 and played a key role in helping them to promotion to the National League in his first season. As every Robins fan will recall all too clearly and painfully, it was via the play-offs and included a semi-final penalty shoot-out win over Alty before a crowd of nearly 3,500 at Victory Park.
Elliot also starred in Chorley's remarkable run to the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup, earning him a loan spell at Stockport that became a permanent move in April last year.
He played an integral part in County's Vanarama National League title triumph last season, making 16 appearances and scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-0 win at King's Lynn Town last March.
It's great to have you back at The J.Davidson Stadium, Elliot, and in extending a warm welcome, everyone at the club wishes you every success in Alty colours over the next two months.
