Goodbye and thank you

We're say goodbye and thank you to a player who’s had a big impact on the football club since his arrival four years ago, as we made the difficult transition from part-time to full-time football before rising to compete at the business end of the Enterprise National League.

Lewis Baines joined the Robins from Chorley in the summer of 2022 and played 150 games in his four seasons at The J.Davidson Stadium. A hugely important player during the club’s run to the playoffs in 2023/24, Manager’s Player of the Year and captain for 18 months thereafter, the central defender finished the 2025/26 season on loan at Solihull Moors.

"We thank Bainesy for being an excellent player and wonderful servant of the football club during his four years with Altrincham," said manager, Neil Gibson. "We wish him all the best for next season and thank him for his performances and efforts while with the football club."

Also leaving the Robins are Sam Reed and Billy Sass-Davies, who joined the Robins as free agents last summer, from Sheffield Wednesday and Hartlepool United respectively.

Left-back Sam featured 23 times, while Billy suffered an injury-hit season, appearing on the bench for the final game of the campaign against Gateshead.

Academy graduate Lucas Edwards, who played the majority of the season on loan at Irlam, and mid-season free agent signing Yassine Toure, who played the second half of the season at Vauxhall Motors, are also departing the club.
