Alty to launch Girls Academy in 2023
Altrincham have taken a significant step towards further developing an already-successful women’s section by sanctioning the creation of an Academy for girls next year.
The new Academy will be launched next September, and, as with the club’s thriving boys’ set-up, the aim is to provide a pathway to the senior squad for youngsters in the area.
With interest in the women’s game greater than ever, after the way the 2022 European Championships were staged in this country and won by England, the club feel there has never been a better time to provide a platform for aspiring young female footballers to achieve their ambitions.
“We already have 20 girls’ teams in the club’s junior section,” said Alty director Cathal Morrison. “The women’s section, in general, is going from strength to strength, and this is the perfect opportunity to keep building the pathway between junior and senior football for girls in and around the area.”
The scheme is being launched in partnership with Trafford College, and any girls currently in year 11 at school are eligible to apply for trials that will be held during next month’s half-term break. That is the week starting October 24th, and interest can be expressed by emailing academy@
