ON Day Eight of our build-up to Stuart Coburn's testimonial, we are delighted to be able to bring you four more familiar names of players who will be turning out for an Altrincham 2014 squad against their 2005 counterparts at The J.Davidson Stadium on Sunday July 28th.

The match, kindly sponsored by Jones Contracts, kicks off at 3.30pm, with the Golf Road turnstiles opening at 2.30pm, and Stuart is hoping to see as many of you there as possible, not only to share a special occasion with so many of his former team-mates but to support his chosen charity for the afternoon, the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Tickets are only £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s, and they can be purchased here. Here's the latest quartet ready to roll back the years and turn it on for Stuey on Sunday, with more to follow over the rest of the week.

TOM MARSHALL - a powerhouse central defender signed from Stafford Rangers in December 2013. Tom and Kyle Perry were like Alty's very own version of the Blues Brothers, both engaging, outgoing characters who were virtually inseparable and both members of the same band, theirs going by the name of Stubblemelt.

Injuries didn't exactly help the settling-in process in his first few months at the club, but he became Luca Havern's regular partner in the centre of defence in the 2014-15 campaign with a series of rock-solid performances that earned him the supporters' player-of-the-season award.

Won the vast majority of his aerial duels and packed a real punch in his left foot. Tom had the wretched misfortune to suffer a broken leg and dislocated ankle only four games into the 2015-16 season and was sidelined for the rest of that campaign.

His time at Alty came to an end when he was released in May 2016, shortly after Neil Young's appointment as manager, having made 53+13 appearances and scored three goals.

SCOTT LEATHER - based in Sale, Scott was a trialist in the summer of 2012, and he did well enough to earn a place in Lee Sinnott's squad for the following season.

What a signing he turned out to be. Though his initial trial appearance was at right-back, he quickly established himself as an indispensable figure at the heart of Alty's defence.

His arrival at The J.Davidson Stadium came after he was released by Preston North End following just two League appearances at Deepdale, and it soon became clear that Preston's loss was Alty's gain.

Capable of filling any of the positions across the back four, and invariably shining in every one of them, he was rewarded with a contract in December 2012 and was a virtual ever-present in the 2013-14 campaign that ended in promotion to the Conference National via the play-offs.

Neil Young offered him new terms for the 2016-17 season, but he opted for a fresh start with Chorley after making 155+24 appearances for the Robins and scoring seven goals.

NICKY CLEE - Alty can't have had many wingers, if any, with the same innate ability to go up to and past defenders in as many different ways as Nicky demonstrated on a regular basis throughout his seven years at the club.

Former Alty skipper Robbie Lawton summed up the extraordinary footwork that made Nicky such a one-off by saying: "At times, when he takes the ball up to a defender, he doesn't know what he's going to do next, so the other feller's got no chance!"

You got the impression Robbie was only half-joking. There was always a buzz of anticipation whenever the ball arrived at Nicky's left boot, out on the left flank, and he prepared to dip into a box of tricks that so often tied his full-back up in knots.

He could fill in at left-back, but his reputation as a crowd-pleaser with few equals was forged as an outside-left with a rare gift for leaving one defender after another floundering.

Also an accomplished batsman for Marsden cricket club near Huddersfield, he readily volunteered if a makeshift keeper was needed and clocked up 220+50 appearances in a glittering Alty career that also included 36 goals and ran from 2009-2016.

DAMIAN REEVES - Jack Swindells is still out on his own, and surely always will be, as the most prolific finisher we have seen in Alty colours, but among more recent strikers, there have been few to rival Damian's phenomenal output.

Signed by Graham Heathcote in June 2010, he hit the ground running with 19 goals in just 35 starts in his first season with the club, and in the following campaign, 2011-12, we really saw the absolute best of Damian, both on and off the pitch.

On it, he notched an incredible 44 goals, all of them in the league, to become the top scorer in the entire country at Alty's level or above. What a distinction for this unassuming but lethal frontrunner, and it created the inevitable interest from Football League clubs who had been circling for some time.

Which is where his off-the-pitch persona comes in. Speculation was rife about which club he might join, and there was a general sense of resignation that he would be leaving, but he put a stop to all that by signing a new deal with Alty in July 2012 in what was rightly hailed as a fantastic show of loyalty.

The goals kept flowing, 41 of them the following season, and he was Alty's leading marksman yet again the season after that. When he finally left, in the summer of 2017, he had amassed 166 goals in 278+54 appearances.
