Principles to be proud of and pies par excellence - H.M.Pasties are heading our way this Saturday!
We're delighted to be enriching our Fan Zone menu with the fantastic range of pies H.M.Pasties are famed for at this weekend’s game against AFC Fylde at The J.Davidson Stadium.
The Oldham-based suppliers are fast gaining a reputation for producing handcrafted pies of the highest order, and our collaboration with them means fans can sample a wide range of their tasty fillings from 1pm onwards this Saturday.
Freshly baked using the highest quality ingredients, you can choose whatever takes your fancy from a list that includes steak, jerk chicken, meat and potato, aloo sag and cheese and onion, and we're even giving away free samples.
What's not to like?! Our Fan Zone is already renowned for the quality of cuisine on offer, and that will only be enhanced by the latest addition to our menu.
There's another reason why we are so pleased to be linking up with H.M.Pasties, and the clue is in the name.
It stands for Hand Made Pasties, but those initials could just as easily be construed as His Majesty's Pleasure, with a clear connotation of imprisonment, and that has been done deliberately as the business was set up in the first place to support ex-offenders and help them build new lives for themselves.
Back in 2018, Lee Wakeham had the idea to launch a company that would provide not only job opportunities for those with a criminal record but an employment programme with peer mentoring, and so H.M.Pasties was founded.
It has since gone from strength to strength, and the club has the utmost admiration for the way Lee has made such an ethically-sound enterprise thrive so spectacularly.
The concept is to be applauded, and the social benefits are beyond dispute, with reports suggesting there is 41% reduction in reoffending rates among those involved.
Alty chief executive Sam Mackenzie commented: "This company was bought to my attention early in the season by my colleague Rickson Parmeggiani.
"The values and concept were fantastic, and the pies are delicious. After working with the Fan Zone team and making sure we could deliver this product operationally, we have decided to go for it.
"Hope you all enjoy them - and, remember, we will be handing out samples!"
Don't miss out – simply head to our Fan Zone on Saturday from 1pm to pick up and enjoy.
