Blow for Robins as Matty undergoes knee surgery
John Edwards reports
Altrincham have suffered an injury setback on the eve of the new season after attacking midfielder Matty Kosylo underwent surgery on a damaged knee ligament.
The 29-year old forward, an integral part of manager Phil Parkinson’s squad since arriving from AFC Fylde in the summer of 2020, had the misfortune to pick up the injury while running soon after the start of pre-season.
After being examined by a specialist, it was decided surgery would be needed, and it took place earlier this week after the popular attacker returned from Alty’s pre-season friendly with FC Isle of Man in Douglas.
Matty took to social media to hail the operation a success, though he will now face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Everyone at the club wishes him well in his recovery and looks forward to seeing him in Alty colours again.
In the meantime, the club have already launched moves to make up for his absence, and it is hoped there may be news of an incoming loan signing in the next few days.
